Safety is our biggest priority this year. Our school has an excellent plan to limit outbreaks among students by enforcing mask/social distancing policies, contact tracing, and issuing quarantines when needed. Please refer to instructions from the Point Care team listed here.
Rehearsing outside in the sun while social-distancing has been proven safe. Moving indoors provides more health risks, particularly with wind instruments. Here are a few guidelines that we’ll be following to accomplish our goals in the safest and most efficient way possible:
- Masks must be worn indoors. This includes:
- Meetings or lectures
- During breaks at indoor rehearsals
- Just passing through the building
- Masks are not required during outdoor rehearsals, but students should maintain social distancing when possible
- Students should only handle his/her own equipment, including instruments, instrument cases, batons, flags, sticks/mallets, water bottle, backpack, etc.
- It’s good practice to stay in your “bubbles” during free time or social activities (roommate groups and/or small sections)
